Russia is so massive that it covers more space on Earth than the entire surface of the dwarf planet Pluto!

When you look at a map of the world, Russia stands out as a giant. But it is so huge that it actually beats the size of a whole world in our solar system.
Pluto was once the ninth planet in our solar system, but it is actually quite small. The surface area of Pluto is about 17.6 million square kilometers. On the other hand, Russia, the largest country on Earth, has a surface area of about 17.1 to 17.2 million square kilometers.
Wait, the numbers look close, right? For a long time, Russia was officially larger than Pluto. However, after the New Horizons spacecraft visited Pluto in 2015, we got better measurements. While Pluto is now slightly ahead by a small margin, Russia still covers almost exactly the same amount of space as the entire surface of that distant dwarf planet.
The fact that a single country can even be compared to a planet shows how massive Russia is. It spans 11 time zones and two continents. If you were to flatten out the entire surface of Pluto, you could almost perfectly cover it with the land of Russia.
Russia is so large that its land area is roughly equal to the entire surface area of Pluto. It reminds us that while Pluto is a planet, Russia is a true giant of our own world.
